As part of our mission to help North Carolina’s public defense community understand forensic science evidence and achieve better outcomes for clients, the office of the Forensic Resource Counsel continues our efforts to make information related to forensic science evidence more easily accessible to attorneys through this website. In that vein, we are pleased to announce the addition of a mental health resources page to the site. The page can be found here and also under the “Forensic Disciplines” tab on the toolbar at the top of the screen.
The resources page is a compilation of posts from this blog as well as existing reports, publications, featured articles, trainings, cases, legislation, and news related to mental health in science and the law. The page also has a link to our database of expert witnesses, which has a number of psychologists and psychiatrists who may be available to consult or testify in criminal cases. The resources collected on the page are designed to serve as a jumping off point for attorneys researching mental health defenses on behalf of their clients.
