Cell phone location evidence is used frequently by law enforcement to show a suspect’s location at the time of a crime. This training will provide attorneys and investigators with background information on cellular technology, carrier stored data, how experts obtain records, and accuracy and validity of those records.
The presentation, while technically based, is presented to offer an easy-to-understand introduction to the science of cell phone-based location evidence. Both cell tower location evidence and other cell phone location-tracking evidence will be covered including newer technologies that impact cell phone location evidence, such as round-trip time (RTT), precision data, and 5G networks.
