Live webinar presented by Dr. Shawn Acheson
August 3, 2023, 12:30pm
90 min of CLE credit anticipated
This workshop will provide an overview of the kind of work that neuropsychologists do, how they do it, and how it may be helpful to criminal defense attorneys. The bulk of this presentation will focus on brain injury and how it is diagnosed and its implications for criminal defense. The primary focus of the brain injury discussion will be on what is known as mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI), also known as concussion, which accounts for most of all brain injuries. Specifically, potential mitigation and why mitigation is limited in mTBI. Moderate and severe brain injury as well as the diagnostic process of acquired brain injuries (e.g., stroke and neurotoxic exposure) will also be addressed as time permits.
