The Legal Aid Society’s DNA Unit is presenting its 6th Annual Forensics Conference on the afternoons of January 27-29. If you have ever wanted to attend, this year is a great opportunity as it is virtual and free to attend.
2020 brought expansion of new technologies (like DNA phenotyping and genealogy), and expansion in the courts’ reckoning with how badly they’ve handled forensic science in the past (including toolmarks and DNA mixtures). At this conference, the LAS will present speakers that cover these fields, and will discuss how to make sure that your clients aren’t the victim of unreliable forensic analysis in their cases.
Speakers include Dr. Duncan Taylor, one of the creators of STRmix and Dr. Manfred Kayser, one of the creators of phenotyping, as well as many leaders in DNA litigation from the Legal Aid Society’s DNA Unit.
The full agenda is available here. Register by Jan. 15 to reserve your spot!
