Defense Challenges to Firearms Evidence CLE

Free to attend in-person only CLE
Brunswick County Courthouse
Jan. 10, 2025 at 11 am

Forensic Fridays Series is a six-part program held over the course of the next year and is sponsored by the 15th District Office of the Public Defender, in conjunction with Indigent Defense Services. This free CLE series is open to all criminal defense teams and will cover various forensic topics and how to litigate them.

Part Two of the series will cover Defense Challenges to Firearms Evidence. Kathleen Clardy will lay a foundation with basic firearms examination education. Kathleen has over ten years experience in forensic firearms identification. Previously employed by the North Carolina State Crime Laboratory, Kathleen is an AFTE Certified Firearms Examiner who now works independently on cases throughout the state. We will then discuss making Rule 702 Challenges to firearms evidence, specifically reviewing defense investigation, utilizing defense firearms experts, as well as procedure and strategy for firearms specific challenges.
