Specializes in psychological and neuropsychological evaluation of intellectual disability; acquired brain injury and dysfunction (TBI, stroke, etc.); neurodegeneration (Alzheimer’s and other dementias); neurodevelopmental abnormalities (fetal exposure to alcohol, lead, etc.); toxic exposures (lead, insecticide, substance abuse); and PTSD. Dr. Acheson also has experience working with Veterans. He utilizes an evidence based approach incorporating state of the science techniques and instruments in both criminal and civil court settings to address a variety of forensic questions. He serves most of central and western North Carolina with offices in Asheville and Sylva, NC. He is available in eastern NC and throughout the country as time permits.
