Yesterday I attended a webinar offered by NACDL on Chemical Endangerment that addressed allegations of drug use by pregnant people. Presenters Mishka Terplan, MD, MPH and Kima Joy Taylor, MD, MPH shared important information about defending clients in these cases, including the slide below.

Attorneys often ask me about what substances could potentially cause false positive results in drug screens an how long a substance is detectable, so I wanted to share this helpful slide.
If you’re interested in this and other related information, additional no-cost webinars are available from NACDL on the topics of Medical Fundamentals for Defending Pregnancy-Related Cases and Healthcare, Reproductive Justice & Criminal Defense. To access these trainings, you don’t need to be a NACDL member, but you do need to create a login on their platform. These trainings are a great resource in both criminal and parent defense cases!
