In this virtual webinar, attendees will learn about the services provided by the Forensic Biology Section at the NC State Crime Lab. The presentation will cover evidence submission criteria and reporting results. A brief overview of CODIS and STIMS will also be presented.
Each webinar from July-December 2025 will be taught by a State Crime Lab scientist and focus on the testing done by the laboratory in their particular discipline. Topics will include drug chemistry, toxicology, trace evidence, digital evidence, DNA, firearms, and latent evidence.

Presenter:
Wendell Ivory graduated from North Carolina State University with a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology in addition to dual Master’s degrees in Microbial Biotechnology and Business Administration, concentrating in Bioscience Management. He has over 20 years of biotechnology experience and has provided technical skill and expertise in both private and public sectors. His certification in Molecular Biology through the American Board of Criminalistics includes body fluid and DNA analysis. He’s also certified by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards as a General Instructor. For the past 14 years, his passion for biotechnology has been fulfilled in the Forensic Biology Section at the North Carolina State Crime Laboratory where he is honored to serve as a Forensic Scientist Supervisor and support justice through science.
