Many important questions exist regarding basic properties of touch DNA (i.e. the low quantities of DNA that can be left behind when someone touches an object), including the expected stability of touch DNA samples following exposure to different environmental conditions. This Forensic Technology Center of Excellence webinar reviewed existing scientific literature, described lessons learned and best practices for conducting experiments with touch DNA, and described the initial results of a study designed to evaluate the stability of touch DNA under different environmental conditions.
Presenters: Dr. Natalie Damaso and Dr. Meghan Ramsey, Massachusetts Institute of Technology Lincoln Laboratory
