We have scheduled our final three webinars in the 2021 IDS Forensic Science Education Series. They include presentations on accident reconstruction, veterinary forensics, and forensic pathology. Check out the schedule below for more information!
So far this year, IDS has provided over 1000 hours of continuing education to dozens of NC criminal defense and parent attorneys, investigators, mitigation specialists, and experts who have attended the IDS Forensic Science Education Series. It has been a great way to provide free-to-attend forensic training during times when we can’t offer in-person training. For the rest of 2021, IDS Forensic Resources will offer monthly webinars as the 2021 IDS Forensic Science Education Series. Sessions will take place typically at 1 pm on the first Thursday of the month.
Registration and participation:
Use this link to register for the series and attend the programs that are of interest. The webinars will be presented monthly and are free to attend. If separate registration is needed for a webinar, it will be noted. Attorneys who want CLE credit for attending will be billed $3.50 per credit hour by the State Bar. Participants who complete at least ten of the sessions will receive acknowledgement that they are graduates of the 2021 IDS Forensic Science Education Series.

- Mar. 4, 2021: Whiskey in the Courtroom – Medical Evidence (will be hosted by Duke Law School on Zoom rather than Webex, requires separate registration available here.)
- Mar. 18, 2021: Biomechanics in Criminal Cases: What it is, what it isn’t, the scientific method used when investigating injuries, and case examples that discuss situations where biomechanic expertise could assist. Case studies include: a motor vehicle accident, assault, pediatric head injury, homicide and stabbing. Presenters: Dr. Mireille Kelley and Dr. Amber Stern.
